Processing Operations Leader (Mining / Plant / Commissioning / Metallurgy / Coaching) – Southern Africa

Job Description:
An international mining client is in need of an Operations Leader for their Processing team. Their operation is currently in the commissioning stage so experience in this phase is crucial. This role reports in to the Processing Superintendent. The Operations Leader works with the Processing Supervisor and manages the crew of 14 operators.
  • To assist with the plant operations on a daily basis
  • Provide operational advice and support to the shift personnel, including addressing any deficiencies in processing knowledge
  • Coaching & training the Process Operators and mentoring the national Shift Supervisor
  • Coach and mentor personnel to assist with metallurgical surveys and test-work, identify process bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and contribute to optimisation projects throughout the Processing Plant
  • Provide technical and operational advice and support to shift personnel as required
  • Undertake daily work area inspections and report / rectify faults or issues to management immediately
  • Continually monitor the plant environment to ensure the safety of yourself and other workers
  • Make improvement recommendations to the Management Team & continually increase the level of safety in the plant and other associated facilities
  • Assist in managing the safety & environmental training of the Processing Team to ensure 100% compliance at all times
  • Comply with the Company's Environmental & Social Monitoring Program and Health & Safety Management Plan requirements at all times
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Process Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 5 years' experience in a supervisory role
  • Strong coaching & training skills
  • Plant commissioning experience
  • Must have previous experience working as an expat within Africa
  • Crushing, grinding, flotation, filtration, screening, drying experience
  • Citect DCS experience ideal, but if not exposure to some form of plant control system (Honeywell, Yokogawa etc.)
