Job Description:
A leading international environmental consultant firm has an opening in their Johannesburg office for a Principal Tailings Engineer. The role will be to complement and support the existing Engineering and Mine Waste teams. A proven track record in consulting and design on tailings facilities is essential
 
Responsibilities:
  • Team Management and mentoring
  • Development and implementation of company strategy and growth initiatives
  • Develop client relationships, both existing and prospective clients, using existing networks
  • Technical leadership and project oversight, on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Technical review of feasibility studies and designs of mine waste facilities (tailings dams, heap leach pads) and geotechnical investigations and stability analyses
  • Dam safety evaluations and risk assessments
  • Mine waste facility audits and inspections
 
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Degree in civil engineering, with a post graduate degree in geotechnical or water engineering preferred
  • 15 years’ relevant experience in mine waste engineering, in a consulting environment
  • Experience in planning, feasibility, design and construction phases of the project
  • Experience with leading multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Solid experience in the technical review of design works, reports and proposals
  • Professionally registered with ECSA
  • Good experience and understanding of water engineering and closure needs and developments with particular reference to mine waste facilities and the Mining sector
