Project Manager Civil (Mechanical / Infrastructure / Mining / ECSA / PMP/ Design) – Northern Cape

Job Description:
Our client who is currently undertaking exciting projects at their opencast mine site in the Northern Cape, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead on their civils for the project
 
Responsibilities:
  • Analyse & develop project brief, project strategy and full scope of work
  • Identify any potential problems, disputes, conflicts and resolving them timeously
  • Conduct Concept and Feasibility Studies to develop an accurate project budget;
  • Develop a detailed Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) which including the detailed project schedule/programme feeding to the integrated schedule and accurately report progress against baseline schedule;
  • Monitor project budget & scope and submit Formal Change Request to Senior Project Manager, Infrastructure for approval for any changes;
  • Monitor project resources against planned levels and initiating the necessary corrective actions;
  • Establish project team structure and communication strategy;
  • Appoint consultants and coordinate the design process for all Civil and Structural infrastructure scope of work;
  • Prepare tender documentation and organize contractor prequalification;
  • Evaluate tenders for all Civil and Structural infrastructure scope of work (technical/scope) and prepare a Technical Evaluation & Analysis Report;
  • Participate in Civil and Structural contractors selection and appointment;
  • Manage project meetings and weekly progress meetings for all Civil and Structural infrastructure scope of work;
  • Monitor and report on overall Civil and Structural infrastructure project progress and performances;
  • Review the project payment applications, check consultants and contractors final accounts before payments, obtain relevant certificates for approval and submit the finalized payment applications for final approval by Senior Project Manager, Infrastructure;
  • Verify any claims for extension of time or additional payments and advise the client accordingly;
  • Address to concern parties for any Safety, Health and Environmental issues once found and ensure the necessary rectification, improvement or compliance to be done;
  • Coordinate with “statutory authorities” (i.e. Certificate of Compliance and etc.) for all Civil and Structural infrastructure scope of work
  • Manage pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for all Civil and Structural infrastructure scope of work, including but not limited to monitor all pre-commissioning checks, progress of any remedial defects liability work and release of retention monies, etc.;
  • Compile full data packs with maintenance manuals (maintenance programme if applicable) for all Civil and Structural infrastructure scope of work;
  • Arrange for feedback monitoring and post commissioning reviews;
  • Review and approve for the time sheets and other cost control documents;
  • Achieve good communication, motivate and develop the project team members;
 
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other equivalent technical discipline;
  • At least 5 years’ working experience in the same capacity, preferred in Mining Industry;
  • Possession of PMP® or SACPCMP accreditation;
  • ECSA registered is required;
  • Sound skills in project management, good communication skill and good team player
