Role Overview
To monitor opposition’s activities and ensure the effective implementation of brand strategies for certain brands.
 
Client Description:
Our client has grown to no less than 25 premier brands. spectacular champagnes, whiskies, bourbons, cognacs, vodka and liqueurs. Their vision to be the leading supplier of premium spirits in Southern Africa as well as to be the most admired liquor company in South Africa.
 
Duties & Responsibilities, KPA:
  • Develop the Brand and Marketing strategy, to support and enable the business strategy, based on knowledge of Brand objectives, market characteristics, cost and mark-up factors
  • Clearly define the target market and customer segments
  • Accountable for the marketing budget
  • Develop cost-effective marketing plans to maximise ROI on marketing spend
  • Use sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of products, or services analysing business development and monitoring trends
  • Evaluate the financial aspects of new lines of business, including budgets, expenditure, profitability and ROI
  • Keep abreast of market and industry trends, competitors an all aspects related to building the business value proposition
  • Oversee existing offering and identify new initiatives/products or services
  • Identify and develop new market segments for existing products
  • Identify, pursue and manage new business opportunities to increase market share
  • Collaborate with design agencies assisting with new product launches
  • Determine campaign pricing in collaboration with business and global counterparts
  • Initiate price increases/cuts when required
  • Develop and implement action plans to respond to price changes (own or competitor pricing)
  • Approve and oversees the creative development of promotional materials, online content, advertisements and other marketing-related material
  • Supports Central Operations to develop the in store operational tools
  • Coordinate marketing campaigns
  • Engage with various media buyers, advertising agencies, printers and other services to help marketing projects to come to fruition
  • Use customers and trend research to create strategies that will change how people perceive the Brand in South Africa
  • Ensure that Brand remains relevant, up-to-date and exciting to customers
  • Ensure that branding is consistent across campaigns and channels
  • Position Brand in the external market
  • Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all employees are informed of marketing objectives
  • Ensure that all employees are internally branded correctly (i.e. slides, logo, letter head, stationary etc.)
  • Meet with suppliers and work with colleagues across multiple departments
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers
  • Build and maintain beneficial relationships with suppliers
  • Review and update supplier information (products, prices, SLA etc.)
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing communications
  • Systematically collect and analyse publicly available information about consumers, competitors and new market development in the industry
  • Carry out market research (exploratory, descriptive, causal research) using primary and secondary data to determine existing and emerging trends
  • Analyse the success of marketing campaigns and create reports
  • Analyse and interpret research and data on consumer market and behaviour
  • Take calculated risks based on data-driven analytics
  • Adjusts marketing campaigns and strategies as needed in response to collected data and other feedback
  • Gather and provide relevant information on customers to contribute to sales and marketing activities
  • Provide in-depth information to interested customers, and acts as a representative for the marketing department in important buyer meetings
 
Education & Experience Required:
 
  • Hons Degree in Marketing
  • 5 Years Luxury Brand Management Experience
  • 3-5 years Working on a Champagne Brand
  • FMCG Experience
  • Distributor Experience
  • Working with International Brand Owners
