Job Description:
The successful incumbent will oversee all aspects of Mass Balance Project Phase 2 as well as focus on implementing an operational metal balance system and preparing a metal accounting system to support ongoing operations and governance of the processes and protocols necessary for reliable reporting of plant production and performance.
  • Phase 2 includes the following key tasks:
  • Validation of Phase 1 metal balance model (previously scoped within the site visit)
  • Update metal balance to include any implemented recommendations, including tag resolution, additional sample points such as intermediate cobalt product moisture
  • Update validated uncertainty data from the sampling campaigns
  • Develop metal balance to include additional nodes, e.g., separation of iron removal and cobalt precipitation.
  • Implement the Phase 1 metal balance model
  • Develop templates, processes and coding required specifically for onsite data collection, cleaning and consolidation, including data from the historian, lab data and log sheets. The data will be consolidated in a database if the IT infrastructure is available. The objective is to reduce metallurgist time in data consolidation.
  • Structure exports to a custom or off the shelf metal accounting software
  • Develop metal balance output connections to preferred reporting templates
  • Develop reporting templates for key stakeholders, e.g., MS Excel, Power BI, or Grafana
  • Commission data collection systems, model and reporting. This will be done remotely with onsite assistance from a dedicated RTR resource.
  • Update and deliver implementation documents and script:
  • The metal accounting framework will be developed with consideration of the AMIRA P754 Code of Practice for Metal Accounting
  • Ensure adherence to safety, health environmental and quality standards
  • Identifying the risks in their work area and provide corrective measures
  • Ensure personnel are adequately inducted in their work area and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applying
  • Inspect all work areas before work commences and ensure all JSA or HIRA area available.
  • Ensure all SWPS, SOPs, PTOs, JSA, HIRA are up to standard and filed
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Master’s degree in Hydrometallurgy
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience the hydro-metallurgy environment, of which 5 was within the Cu/Co context
  • Experience in Mass-Balance would be an advantage
  • Ensure adherence to safety, health environmental and quality standards
