As the mining operations manager you will be responsible for a number of O/C & UG coal mines that are currently contracted out to our client within South East Asia. Reporting into you on each operation are experienced project managers who you will support by regularly visiting site to provide strategic leadership & direction to unsure the projects are constantly improving. This role is also very client facing hence will involve maintaining and building relationships and negotiation whilst maintaining a win / win philosophy. You will also be responsible for a large P&L.
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a number of mining operations & Act as a change leader, always looking for ways to improve how we operate in an effective and efficient manner
  • Liaise with the Corporate Technical Service team to ensure agreement and synchronization of plans
  • Assist with capital expenditure analysis to fit the corporate strategy and prepare the mining budget
  • Identifies and implements improvements to operations in order to maximize safe and efficient production at the lowest practical costs
  • Lead and provide direction to the staff and external contractors while exhibiting behaviors consistent with our company values
  • Oversee the work for monthly and annual corporate reporting of various mining statistics
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including government and community members
  • Act as the back-to-back for the VP, Operations while he/she is on R&R break when requested
 
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • 20 years + working in mine operations with at least 15 years in leadership positions
  • Overseas / Expat experience leading a large scale mine operation
  • Contract Mining and owner O/C & UG Mining experience
  • An engineering degree or advanced leadership qualifications would be preferable but are not essential
  • Analytical and understanding of contractual obligations and their impact on profitability
  • Cultural sensitivity with an understanding of issues relevant to large scale mining projects within developing countries
  • Ability to work in Indonesia (Locals encouraged to apply)
