Job Description:
Planning, coordinating, managing and directing of all maintenance activities and operations for the civil, structural, bulk services, roads and building fabric within the client’s portfolio. The successful candidate will report to the Executive Manager: Operation.

  • Civil and structural input, advice and coordination to operations strategy;
  • Repairs and maintenance, planned maintenance, CAPEX budgeting and financial control;
  • Compilation monthly management, cost variation and status reports;
  • Management of civils and structures staff, consulting engineers and/or contractors;
  • Review of consultants designs ensuring project delivery in terms of quality and cost;
  • Management and direction of contractor/s responsible for repairs and maintenance, planned maintenance and/or CAPEX;
  • Development, implementation, coordination of preventative maintenance plan;
  • Management of breakdown and outage plan, ensuring tenant trade despite failures;
  • Inspection of maritime assets such as quay walls, dredging, floating jetties and bridges;
  • Assist with major events through infrastructure erection and provision of services;
  • Review and approval of event structures, i.e. tents, stages and scaffolding in terms of legislation;
  • Collection, analysis and risk assessment in terms of weather and sea data;
  • Water quality surveys, marine basin growth studies, and pollution control measures;
  • Reviews proposals and plans against town planning guidelines.
  • Matric / Grade 12;
  • Relevant Engineering Degree/Diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering essential;
  • Professional registration with ECSA or eligibility to register with ECSA;
  • 5 to 8 years work experience of which at least 3 years was at management level;
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, i.e. OHS Act LR Act, SANS building regulations;
  • Project management experience;
  • Experience in managing of contracts and SLAs;
  • Financial experience in compiling and managing of CAPEX and OPEX budgets;
  • Planning, organizational and analytical skills, decision making and problem solving;
  • Accurate with high attention to detail;
  • Verbal and written communication skills across levels of the business;
  • Assertive personality;
  • Sound knowledge of people management;
  • Computer literacy in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications;
  • Unendorsed Code 8 driver’s license;
  • Ability to work under pressure/to deadlines.
