Job Description:
My client has an operating mine in Liberia and they are seeking a local Mine Planner to join their successful team onsite.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the timely and accurate engineering inputs to facilitate the development of mine plans.
  • Ensure the achievement of agreed targets for the Mine Planning area in terms of;
  • Budgeted costs
  • Effectively developing the ore body to maximize returns and minimize costs.
  • Provide leadership to the Mine Planning team to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety standards that exceed industry practice and any applicable legislative provisions.
  • Provide professional leadership and technical support to the Mine Planning team to ensure the creation of a working environment that is conducive to employees gaining new skills and achieving their full potential by the development and implementation of effective training and mentoring programmes.
  • Develop, implement and monitor systems to ensure engineering plans are complete, accurate and accessible.
  • Continually review every aspect of the department’s operations to ensure that opportunities to add value and enhance shareholder wealth are identified and implemented.
  • Implement AML’s employee performance management processes within the department to ensure optimum employee performance and behaviour.
  • Create a work climate, which ensures that all activities and processes in Mine Planning are constantly reviewed and continually improved.
  • Participate in the Mining Department Team of AML to ensure that company targets for resource exploitation, capital management, cost control, safe working, employee development, environmental management performance and corporate governance are achieved.
 
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Bsc in Mining Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in an open pit mine.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Resilience and resourcefulness
  • Strong influencing skill
  • Performance orientation
  • Willing to hold subordinates accountable
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Commercial acumen
  • Knowledge of Liberian customs and legal process
