Job Description:
My client has an operating mine in Liberia and they are seeking a local Mine Surveyor to join their successful team onsite.
Reporting into the Technical Services Manager onsite
 
Responsibilities:
  • Keep track of current approved Mine Instructions and archiving obsolete ones.
  • Issuing Survey Instructions to the relevant mine personnel and ensuring mining department and contractors adhere to these instructions.
  • Ensure all fired rounds are correctly recorded so as to monitor development trend of each and every active heading.
  • Provide survey support to ensure mine production and development is done per design and in accordance with established standards and procedures while ensuring minimal disruption to production and development cycles.
  • Ensure precision survey equipment are kept in good serviceable condition by carrying out regular checks, user permissible adjustments and keeping track of equipment performance for scheduling specialized maintenance at authorized dealers’ shops.
  • Implement employee performance management processes to ensure optimum employee performance and identify and reporting any substandard performances or behaviors.
  • Performing mining Quality Control processes as per standard procedures.
  • Providing comprehensive end-of-shift reports.
  • Provide effective on-the-job training and coaching to ensure employees gain new skills and achieve their maximum potential.
  • Ensure all surveys are done so as to exceed the minimum accuracy standards specified in the survey code of practice.
 
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Bachelor Degree in Survey or an equivalent qualification from a recognized higher learning institution or sufficient training and experience through other roles in surveying.
  • Minimum of 2 years surveying experience of which 1 year was of practicing
  • Surveying in an open pit mining environment
  • Knowledge of open pit engineering construction work.
  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to plan, coordinate and supervise the work of subordinates
