Job Description:
Our client is a non-profit organisation that takes total responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities.
Our client currently manages 12 parks in different African countries
 
Role Overview
The Park Manager role is akin to a Managing Director role for a company, and as a result calls on a wide range of skills: strategy, financial, human resources, operations management, conflict resolution, managing community and government relations, attending and presenting to board meetings, and in the context of the work done by the organisation, having a keen interest in and understanding of conservation issues, including law enforcement.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Park strategy and development
  • Community, stakeholder and government relations
  • Finance, including cost control
  • Marketing and tourism development
  • Financial sustainability, including donor relations and other revenue development
  • Law enforcement
  • The Bazaruto Park Manager shall also fulfill the role of Warden for Bazaruto as required by law.
 
Key relationships
  • DCD, ROM, CEO
  • All other Park Managers in the company in relation to sharing knowledge and expertise
  • ANAC
  • Provincial Government representatives
  • Local Chiefs/Community Associations
  • Tourism operators
 
Full management team including:
  • Field Operations Manager
  • Financial Controller and book-keeper
  • Community Coordinator
  • Marketing and Tourism Development Manager
