Job Description:
Our client, a leading financial services institution is seeking a Compliance Consultant to join their team. This person with be responsible for ensuring that the business complies with all regulatory items and for the minimisation of compliance risk through provision of direction, advice and guidelines.

  • Development and implementation of Compliance Management Frameworks, Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide input and guidance to in-country businesses on the implementation of frameworks and policies.
  • Provide an assurance function to the Business and the Group’s management on the management and mitigation of risk within the in-country businesses.
  • Ensure that compliance management in the business is pro-active and has the right balance between the maturity of the business and robust practice.
Reporting and Processes:
  • Contribute to identifying the controls required in functional areas for the mitigation of risk and provide guidance to in-country businesses on the effective implementation of these controls.
  • To produce Compliance Reports for assurance purposes for the Business.
  • Assist in-country businesses with the production of Compliance reports to be used in mitigating risk and improving business and operational processes.
  • Ensure that in-country compliance resources monitor and report on limit breaches; and follow up on corrective actions to ensure that they do not recur.
  • Provide monthly dashboard on compliance breaches and exposures.
Compliance Management:
  • Work closely with MD’s and compliance staff to proactively monitor new legislation in terms of managing threats and opportunities.
  • To keep abreast of new regulations and industry developments in order to advise and guide the Group and in-country businesses.
  • Ensure that the in-country insurance business complies with all applicable legislation.
  • Provide input into, set and maintain compliance monitoring methodology, guidelines and standards.
  • Comment and analysis on draft bills to identify implications for the Group and in-country businesses.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • LLB Degree
  • Post grad qualification in Compliance Management
  • Registration with CISA an advantage
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in Compliance Management in the Financial Services environment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have Insurance Industry exposure.
  • In-depth knowledge of Compliance Management
  • Legislative knowledge
  • Life Insurance Industry products
  • Insurance industry operational processes
  • Must have exposure to the following legislation:
  • AML
  • PoPI
  • Excellent presenting, communication & writing skills
  • Ability to liaise at a Senior and Executive level.
