Job Description:
Our client, a leading Financial Services Group is seeking a Legal Advisor to join their team in South Africa.

  • Support the delivery of the legal risk management function within the business..
  • Provide legal analysis and opinion in respect of legislative and regulatory requirements related to in-country businesses and other business related legal opinions related to product development and roll-out.
  • Drafting and vetting or review of legal agreements and ensuring that contracts are appropriate both legally and to meet commercial needs.
  • Overall contract management for entities with Africa
  • Provide governance input in respect of in-country boards and committees etc.
  • Provide legal support and input into the Group’s Insurance projects and initiatives e.g. product development, business development, procurement, distribution initiatives, contracting, geographic expansion etc.
  • Conduct legal risk assessments in accordance with the legal risk framework
  • Litigation management and liaison with external attorneys
  • Conduct regulatory scanning and Compile Regulatory updates with impact assessments of legislation for each business

Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • LLB degree essential
  • Admitted Attorney preferable
  • A minimum of 4-6 years' experience in a Legal role in the Financial Services environment with solid experience in drafting of legal agreements ad providing legal advice.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have Insurance Industry exposure and in-country exposure.
