The Group establishes and operates cooperative, agricultural villages in rural areas based on modern technologies and farming methods, and trains local growers to operate modern agricultural tools and machines.  The projects are tailor-made for each location and involve implementing contemporary approaches to land preparation, sowing, harvesting, and storage – developing sustainable, self-sufficient models that include the sale and export of grains, vegetables, livestock, poultry, and fisheries.

Job Description:
The client is looking for someone to act in the capacity of Farm Manager of a 600 Ha grain farm (specifically maize & sorghum) just outside of Juba, the capital city of South Sudan.  The candidate needs to be willing to relocate to South Sudan and commit to the contract.  10+ years of experience in a similar agriculture field & position is required.
  • Regular field checks;
  • Insect, weed & disease monitoring / diagnostics;
  • Soil moisture status monitoring;
  • Irrigation scheduling;
  • Ag chemical, fertilizer & seed recommendations;
  • Soil sampling;
  • Equipment calibration;
  • Crop rotation planning and hybrid/variety selection recommendations;
  • Solicit customers & increase acres and/or opportunities;
  • Precision Ag services (including GIS/GPS information);
  • Providing daily and periodically detailed reports (crops, inventory, inputs, manpower, fuel consumptions, farm expenses, budgets, maintenance, etc.) & permanent record keeping;
  • Crop budgeting & planning;
  • Provide personal consultation with customers as needed;
  • Properly and adequately maintain the relationship with the local communities surrounding the farm;
  • Manpower management and monitoring;
  • Educational / promotional presentations as needed;
  • Other duties as necessary and/or will be assigned.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar agricultural field (grains / crops)
  • Relevant Post-school degree/ certificate preferred
  • Strong & proven management skills
  • Computer literate (can draw up reports)
  • Experience in managing large teams, at all levels
  • Willing & able to relocate to Juba, South Sudan (single status)
