Our client was funded from Silicon Valley investment and now operates across four global offices and employs over 150 talented people. They work with some of the world’s largest asset management brands that include banks, wealth managers, mutual fund providers and alternative investments. The company provides an industry class digital experience platform for financial services companies. Our platform enables financial institutions to orchestrate their data across websites, documents and portals to increase sales, marketing and client servicing efficiency.

They are now seeking a Financial Controller to join their US-based team in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. S/he will be running the accounting function and responsible for the monthly close process and the completion of external audits and tax reporting. This role reports into the COO/CFO.


  • Oversee all accounting related tasks including general ledger, monthly close, internal and external reporting and financial audits in compliance with US GAAP
  • Establish and execute accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Manage audits, corporate tax filings, tax nexus, and international accounting issues with external CPA firms, including preparing and reviewing support documentation and analyses
  • Assess, implement and maintain accounting systems and tools aimed at driving efficiencies. Work across the company to automate and streamline processes to enhance accuracy of data while minimizing manual efforts
  • Manage and mentor the accounting team
  • Serve as the lead technical accounting resource for the company and proactively anticipate, research & analyze complex accounting issues
  • Ensure that monthly journal entries and account reconciliations are prepared accurately and in a timely manner
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of balance sheet accounts, revenue recognition, expense classifications and international consolidations
  • Manage world-wide daily accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Transactions, Payments, Billing, Collections, Fixed Assets and Payroll
  • Partner with the COO/CFO to provide weekly, monthly and quarterly financial metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to analyze business performance and to provide insights into opportunities and risks

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 5-10 years’ experience, with venture-backed technology companies
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related degree required; CPA preferred
  • Strong accounting technical knowledge, e.g., revenue recognition, consolidation
  • Experience with international accounting, systems implementations and/or NetSuite a plus
  • Excellent prioritization, analytical, organizational, communication (verbal and written) and management skills
  • Personable, team player and with ability to work with all employees at all levels
  • Self-motivated, goal and deadline driven
