Job Description:
The Group Reporting Financial Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the Company’s corporate financial reporting processes and structures. They will be reporting operationally to the Financial Manager, Mali but functionally to the Finance and Governance Manager, Africa.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Plan, supervise and oversee, including giving assistance and on-the-job training to the corporate finance reporting team
  • Ensure implementation of succession and individual development plans for team members. Properly plan team rotations to ensure appropriate staffing during reporting periods
  • Assist the FM to ensure that all financial IT systems at site effectively support the financial reporting requirements
  • Take overall responsibility and provide assistance, coaching and guidance on the preparation of monthly cost and other reports that must be submitted to Head Office. Act as first point of contact with the Finance team in Head Office for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and promptly respond to head office requests
  • Stay abreast of all new reporting developments in both OHADA and IFRS and the effect and implications it may have on the Mali entities
  • Assist the FM to ensure the integrity of the ERP financial reporting system (SAGE), taking into account the reporting requirements and functionality. Make sure designed controls are executed and being complied
  • Assist in the development of accounting policies and procedures with specific focus on reporting requirements; and assist the FM to ensure that accounting policies are correctly implemented and applied in the accounting records
  • Assist the FM to review accounting records monthly, including transactions, reconciliations and month-end procedures prepared by the finance reporting department. Assist the FM to review monthly cost reports prepared by the Cost/Management Accountant, including coding conventions and requirements of the heads of departments
  • Assist in the development of reporting requirements and information available or compilation of the information between the operations (development, exploration, production and administration) for management/cost accounting
  • Assist FM with any other sundry requests. Act as stand-in FM when the FM is on rotation
 
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Chartered Accountant or similar;
  • At least 10 year’s post-qualification relevant experience, of which 5 years should have been in a senior reporting role;
  • Specialist knowledge of IFRS and group reporting practices;
  • Preferably 5-10 years’ experience in Mining environment,
  • Previous experience of reporting on the Toronto Stock Exchange (“TSX”) (specific TSX reporting requirements) advantageous
