Client Description: Our Client is a global technology solutions provider and solely focuses on the Customs and Border Management business sphere.

Role Overview: Reporting to the Financial Director, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the accounting as well as the Payroll function including ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements as relating to the PFMA, King IV Report and National Treasury requirements and any other applicable laws.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:

Financial management
  • Take responsibility  for overall management and delivery of the financial business plan
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and accounted for
  • Ensure that appropriate financial regulations and controls are in place and in use at all times
  • Prepare for review detailed financial and management reports
  • Prepare regular reports on income, expenditure and  variations reports
  • Develop financial management mechanisms that minimize financial risk
  • Liaising with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out
  • Producing accurate financial reports to meet specific deadlines
  • Generate general ledger
 
Staff management
  • Manage and develop staff
 
Payroll          
  • Establish  appropriate checks and balances to ensure payroll compliance and accuracy
  • Generate and oversee the administration of payment of salaries
  • Reconcile overtime and time sheets
  • Ensure proper payroll tax compliance and accurate benefit processing
 
Education & Experience Required:
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in the public sector
  • Qualifies CA (SA)
  • Knowledge of the PMFA, King IV and national treasury requirements with regards to financial matters and ethics
  • Knowledge and application of public sector procurement processes
  • Experience in compiling financial statements
  • Financial reporting
  • Payroll experience (VIP Payroll knowledge will be an advantage)
  • 3 years plus experience in a similar role would be advantageous
