Job Description:
 To implement and manage the processes with which the client can comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies related to product source verification and registration. Manage the implementation of Global Harmonized System (GHS) specifications to the MSDS and product label process. 
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Ensure all new sources and formulators are registered and documented.
  • Liaise with procurement to ensure alignment with registration requirements.
  • Facilitate the process of obtaining data such as five batch analysis, method of analysis and six pack studies.
  • Evaluate and validate data to ensure that it meets regulatory standards.
  • Maintain data base and Master data with up to date information.
  • Provide compliance support to all other departments within the company with respect to Waste Management Act, Rotterdam Convention, Reach, PIC etc.
  • Ensure confidentiality agreements/contracts related to product sources are subject to appropriate legal review.
  • Compile and provide accurate source data for inclusion in registration dossiers.
  • Monitor the EU active substance review process and advise Technical and Marketing timeously on expected restrictions and phase-outs to allow for proactive alignment and replacement strategies to be developed.
GHS (Global Harmonized System)
  • Act as specialist professional on GHS and guide the Regulatory team on requirements and process of implementation.
  • Apply GHS criteria in classifying physical, health and environmental hazards attributed to the clients product range.
  • Select appropriate hazard communication criteria and develop effective strategies adapted to their specific context.
  • Achieve expert knowledge on ExESS software and train team members to achieve competency in its applications.
  • Develop GHS Safety data sheets both manually and using ExESS software.
  • Verify that software generated MSDS are validated and aligned with local regulations.
  • Generate labels that are aligned with GHS and country specific regulations. 
  • Compile the necessary documents for registration.
  • Act on behalf of the client as member of GHS Working Group and apply expert knowledge to lead decisions on implementation of requirements.
Regulatory and Dossier Preparation
  • Maintaining familiarity with company product ranges.
  • Handle requests for registration of products.
  • Investigate, validate and communicate with laboratory regarding product information.
  • Assist with Dossier preparation for other African Countries.
  • Ensure that quality standards are met and submissions meet strict deadlines.
  • Update and request trade names and trademarks.
  • Legalise documents by forwarding to attorney’s, the High Court, and various embassies for stamp approval.
  • Provide support to registration renewal process for Southern Africa.
  • Participate in the drafting and updating of regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in the drafting of Company stewardship programmes.
  • Honours Degree OR a 4-year degree in Agriculture or Science GHS competency training.
On the job training required:
  • Induction Policies & Procedures Disciplinary Code Familiarity with company product ranges AVCASA course (within 1 year of commencement)
  • 8 - 10 years’ relevant experience in the agrochemical regulatory and product development environment.  Comprehensive understanding of the product registration requirements and process. Demonstrated competency with implementing GHS Knowledge of crops and the crop protection environment. Working knowledge of analytical chemistry.
