Commercial/Business Manager

Job Description:

Commercial: Purchase limits, credit limits, payment terms, discounts, leases, contracts, consulting agreements.
Financial: CAPEX, loans, write offs, insurance claims, budget adjustments, petty cash, disposal of company assets.
Legal: Engage legal counsel, initiate or respond to litigation.
Administration: Donations, policy and procedures.
HR: Disclosure of information, hiring of staff, salary adjustments, Ex gratia payments, changes to terms and conditions of employment, staff loans, any remuneration related decision. Dismissal of staff, retrenchment of staff, casual labour, transferring of staff, relocation agreements.


Responsibilities:
 
Commercial:
  • Manage Distributor Relationship.
  • Establish Forecast by Customer and tracking forecast accuracy.
  • Monitoring Price/Volume/Sales/GP (actual vs forecast vs LY) to achieve budget.
  • Growth Analysis of his region (identify opportunities and make proposals).
  • Manage sales incentives.
  • Identify and evaluate distribution options.
 

Technical:
  • Technical support (technical training of distributor agents, agent/farm visits, field visits and farmer days).
  • Complaints handling and liaison with Technical Department.
  • Liaison with Technical Department.
 

Marketing:
  • Collaboration with Marketing Department.
  • Marketing Intelligence (Interact with distributors, agents and farmers, getting information about competition and market).
  • Submit proposals to Marketing.
  • Implementation of Marketing Plans.


Sales Administration:
  • Sales administration process, orders, stock availability, collection, others
  • Pricing, Forecasting, Product range.
  • Stock availability.
  • Pricing, Product allocation, Legal/Contractual agreements, Claims settlement.
  • Forecasting (18 months rolling) and budgeting.
  • Sales incentives.
  • Product Launches in conjunction with Marketing.
 

Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • A relevant Diploma/Degree in Agriculture/Soil Sciences or applicable field.
  • Business Management Diploma/Degree (advantageous).
  • QBE with minimum 10 years relevant experience.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in agrochemical sales/technical/marketing fields.
  • AVCASA Crop Life Diploma.


On the job training required:
  • Induction.
  • Company policies and procedures.
  • ERP i.e. ISCALA.
  • Microsoft Office proficient (i.e. Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook).
  • Product knowledge.
  • Technical complaints handling.
  • HS&E
