Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to lead the implementation of all geotechnical and hydrogeological operations, including the construction associated with the tailings storage facility.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Undertake detailed pit wall inspections
  • Verify that the required geotechnical data is collected, analysed and interpreted
  • Coordinate the pit wall monitoring requirements
  • Coordinate the geotechnical aspects associated with tailings storage facility and all civil earthworks where materials selection and/or materials testing are required
  • Ensure that all credible slope failure modes and significant ground-related incidents are inspected, evaluated and reported appropriately
  • Liaise with operations personnel to ensure designs are implemented
  • Prepare all hydrogeological database and groundwater monitoring
  • Supervise all drilling activities at the section (both core and borehole drilling)
  • Provide monthly geotechnical performance reports
  • Maintain updated written documentation on all work procedures
  • Maintain a proactive approach to all aspects of operational safety and encourage teamwork within the department
  • Deliver own prescribed outcomes and/or provide support services by using the organisation's safety, health and environment systems and protocols.
  • Explore issues and/or needs to establish potential causes, related issues and barriers
  • Advise Managers on how to apply a wide variety of existing procedures and precedents based on assessments
  • Build own capabilities and develop the capabilities of direct reports by working within an existing development framework
  • Provide specialised training or coaching in area of expertise to others throughout the organisation
  • Deliver required outcomes by working within an established project management plan
  • Develop project plans and hand these over to Operations for implementation
  • Provide technical expertise in projects
  • Work independently to collate and analyse data using pre-determined tools, methods and formats
  • Conduct data collection on geotechnical issues for submission to consultants to analyse data update stability
 
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Civil and/or Geology
  • Total minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar environment/industry, including a minimum of 1 years’ experience in a Supervisory role
