Role Overview:
Our Client, a well-established Financial Services Company is looking for a Credit Manager based in Johannesburg. The successful incumbent will be responsible for evaluating portfolio risks, making final credit decisions and interacting with other departments regarding credit management strategies.
Client: Our client is a specialist finance company targeting the formally employed market with an unsecured term-loan offering. The company has grown into a dynamic, rapidly developing pan-African micro-finance organisation with operations in South Africa, Zambia, Ghana and Kenya.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a departmental organisational structure sufficient to meet all goals and objectives
  • Properly motivate the credit and collections staff
  • Measure department performance with appropriate metrics
  • Provide for ongoing training of credit staff
  • Manage relations with credit reporting agencies
  • Manage relations with the sales department
  • Manage inter-group relationships / intercompany accounts
  • Maintain the corporate credit policy
  • Recommend changes in the credit policy to senior management
  • Create a credit scoring model
  • Propose credit limits for new and existing customer accounts
  • Manage customer credit files
  • Ensure customer master data is maintained across all branches and group companies
  • Monitor the credit granting and updating process
  • Accept or reject the staff's credit recommendations
  • Personally, investigate the largest customer credit applications
  • Monitor periodic credit reviews
  • Monitor deductions being taken by customers
  • Manage the corporate financing program
  • Reporting and measuring of monthly collection targets
  • Generate month end and year end reports
  • Provide feedback to operational management in weekly and monthly meetings
  • Assist with the financial year end audit
  • Managing the legal handover process
  • Liaise with Attorneys on legal matters
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or a Credit Management Diploma
  • Minimum of 10 Years’ experience in a similar position
  • Experience in the financial services sector
  • Sound Business communication and presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office packages
  • Thorough knowledge of credit-related laws
  • Have considerable experience with customer negotiations
  • Business and Financial Acumen
