Job Description:
A leading mining company specializing in base metals is looking for a Financial Planning and Analysis Superintendent to join their project in East Africa. The role will be responsible for interpretation of operational and financial transactions to assist end users in making better business decisions. The role will also provide rotational coverage for the Commercial Manage.  
  • Ensure timeous completion of budgeting, planning and forecasting processes for all sections
  • Devise and communicate timely annual budget and forecast to all budget holders in the Senior Management team
  • Monitor and access the forecast compilation process within Senior Management
  • Capture approved budgets into the system to enable monthly performance monitoring
  • Ensure to continually review budget and costs and advise on corrective action
  • Check the accounts for completeness and prepare accruals where necessary
  • Coordinate the Financial Supports Services staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial information
  • Prepare a monthly report to the Support Service Management team
  • Prepare schedules prior to annual audit process
  • Prepare regular analysis of performance and production output with Senior Management
  • Manage and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Promote and foster team environment the enhances cooperation
  • Ensure appropriate financial and cost control management by engaging with relevant stakeholders
  • Identify processes causing bottlenecks ad make recommendations for improvement
  • Compare budget expenditure with actual expenditure
  • Provide Management with financial information when attending operational meetings
  • Ensure departmental compliance to audit requirements
  • Manage, review and update all policies, procedures and processes to reflect best practices
  • Ensure that departments are aware of time frame for audit
  • Lead recruitment of staff members aligned to the structure of the department
  • Manage work performance of employees reporting directly to this position
  • Identify training and development needs
  • Manage performance through counselling, training and disciplinary processes
  • Foster an environment that promotes high performance, innovation and growth of staff
  • Provide Technical support for the team
  • Provide training and coaching for the team
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting
  • Post graduate qualification in Business Management an added advantage
  • 15 years’ experience in the accounting environment
  • 5-8 years’ experience in Managerial positions
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong Accounting and Mathematical ability
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving skills
  • Understanding of GAAP, IFRS and IAS
  • Business and Finance acumen
