Job Description:
An international non-profit health organization is requesting the assistance of a Human Resources Officer for a two-month contract with potential of the contracts being extended for a further period depending on operational requirements.
The HR Officer is primarily responsible for ensuring employee compliance with the company’s HR Policies and Procedures. The Officer provides first line query response and administrative support, advising employees and managers, writing correspondence, managing recruitment campaigns, administering payroll and benefits, ensuring monthly statistical reporting and HR database / systems management amongst other duties.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate recruitment processes for the organisation as delegated by the HR and Operations Manager; 
  • Ensure completion of appropriate employment and vetting checks and maintenance thereof;
  • Perform payroll and time and attendance functions and resolving any related queries;
  • Coordinate with a variety of 3rd Party providers to maintain company benefits;
  • Ensure compliance to legislative requirements i.e. BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA, COIDA, OHSA etc;
  • Oversee all departmental safety efforts to ensure compliance;
  • Minute taking during team meetings;
  • Provide HR support to line managers on staff disciplinary, capability and grievance matters (escalating more complex issues to the Head of HR) and lead of certain disciplinary processes;
 
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Human Resources Management or related field or 5-6 years’ generalist HR experience in the absence of a formal qualification.
  • 4 years’ experience with specialization in at least two areas, e.g. recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, payroll and benefits management etc. 
  • Registration with IPM, SABPP, SARA etc. would be advantageous
  • Experience with US government-funded NGO highly desirous
  • An understanding of relevant legislation relating to HR e.g. BCEA, LRA, UIF, SDL, COID
