Responsibilities:
  • Strong stakeholder engagement across the Employer value chain
  • Ensures strong relationship with trustees/management committees and clients so as to reduce business risk, ensure retention and identify opportunities for new business.
  • Sets the strategic consulting direction and client ownership strategy, for the company’s consultants and clients in the portfolio, which feeds into broader consulting strategy
  • Manages the implementation of the strategy, monitors the results and adjusts the strategy as required.
  • Manages and delivers Employee Benefits and Actuarial consulting as well as advice services according to contracted service levels.
  • Responsible for retention and growth of business against targets.
  • Provides general actuarial, investment, group assurance and legal consulting services to existing and new clients.
  • Distributes actuarial valuations and fund interest declarations to Trustees of Pension and provident funds
  • Bill clients and ensures that invoices are settled
  • Markets new and enhanced products and services to clients.
  • Manages the launch of new clients and exit of discontinued funds.
  • Resolves top-level problems where the Consultant needs assistance and support.
  • Intervenes in and resolves client conflict situations.
  • Develops, leads and manages a team (includes Consultants, Associate consultants and Actuarial staff members)
  • Driving the right leadership behaviours within the team
    Meets overall OMCC objectives by supporting team members
  • Manages the expense and income budgets.
  • Works together with sales teams in the new business tender and handover process.
  • In depth knowledge of industry and regulatory frameworks
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Actuarial qualification or Chartered Accountant qualification.
  • Minimum 5-7 years relevant Employee benefits including union sector experience at a Senior Management level.
  • Previous management and consulting experience.
  • FAIS Accredited
  • Financial services products knowledge,
  • Employee benefits and annuities experience able to consult and present on these.
