Client Description:
Our client is an Independent Power Producer that develops, owns and operates renewable energy power plants (Hydro, Solar, Wind, Landfill gas to electricity). They own and operate over 924 MW of wind and solar power plants.
Job description:
The candidate will be responsible for assisting and leading the Investment & Funding Group in all matters pertaining to the financial, commercial, and economic and risk evaluation / analysis of projects that the group has invested in and all future projects that the Group will invest in.
The incumbent’s particular focus within the finance arm of the group team pertains to leading the execution and evaluation of all projects that fall within the Project Finance function.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing the Project Finance strategy and direction
  • Lead the financial and commercial preparation of projects that will bid in the respective bidding windows.
  • Lead the financial and commercial scope of works to ensure that all projects that have received Preferred Bidder Status successfully reach Financial Close on time and within required investment returns.
  • Lead the financial and commercial scope of works to ensure that all projects that reach Financial Close get to Commercial Operation Date.
  • Represent the company as a board member in the underlying projects that the Group has invested in.
  • Provide project modelling, commercial and risk analysis to support the sales/development team for tenders, unsolicited bids and Greenfield developments.
  • Financial and economic feasibility study of new potential projects.
  • Relationship management with local and foreign utilities.
  • Relationship management with commercial banks and development financial institutions
  • Design templates that will be used to form the financial and commercial reports the Group will use to base its investment decision on.
  • Where direct expertise/capability does not exist such expertise/capability must be developed or sourced.
  • Support project development BU in the development process.
  • Establish external partnerships where required in order to meet business and strategic goals
  • Alignment and advancement of strategy and objectives
  • Duties and responsibilities are not limited to the items listed above and will include items that may arise during the ordinary course of Project Finance transactions.
Requirements – experience and qualifications:
  • B. Com Degree  
  • Master’s Degree in International Finance & Business
  • 10 years of investment banking and project finance experience
