Job Description:
A senior level corporate communications individual contributor, supporting the external and internal communication activities of the company in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) and directly reporting to the Communications Manager of Middle East, Africa, and Russia. The individual is responsible for supporting the Managing Director and leadership team in SSA, devising and executing external and internal communication strategies and activities that meet the local and central business objectives.

  • Develop a corporate communication (internal and external) strategy
  • Responsible for drafting internal communication content, defining news worthy stories, and driving internal campaigns
  • Lead external communications by developing and placing relevant business content on thought leadership and corporate announcements
  • Ensure consistency of corporate messages in marketing related collateral
  • Establishes criteria and formulates projects.
  • Leads and provides strategic direction on multiple projects simultaneously. Interfaces with all levels of management.
  • Work within team structure and provide leadership in developing and implementing internal/employee and external communications plans for wide range of clients to support business and strategic goals.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Superior oral and written communications and journalistic skills with ability to build relationships as a trusted advisor with leaders/managers.
  • Ability to understand, define, and write news worthy stories
  • Has a journalistic and PR agency experience
  • Has a solid media network in East and West Africa
  • Understands the media landscape in Sub Saharan Africa
  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information.
  • Ability to build network of sources and thrive in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Conversant in and able to use advanced media and various communication platforms (i.e. Newsweaver, social media, etc)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to remain focused, objective, effective and concentrated under pressure.
  • Innovative – ability to propose effective, original solutions. Strong attention to detail – ensures accuracy of communications.
  • Skilled at planning, project management, time management, communicating, decision-making, presentations and human and organizational relations.
  • Is recognized as a Communications expert within own area/geography and has developed depth or breadth of complex functional knowledge in own area.
