Head of SME Banking (Mauritian / Finance / Customer Relationships) - Mauritius

Our client is seeking a Head of SME Banking who will responsible for the management of the SME Banking department while developing and managing new and existing SME clients through a team of Relationship Managers.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Manage assigned portfolio in accordance with the Bank credit policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure that any irregularities arising in the department are promptly reported and resolved to minimise any financial / reputation loss.
  • Ensure that the department is fully compliant in terms of all relevant laws, rules, regulations, procedures and standards of best working practice.
  • Establish and implement competitive pricing policies and tariff structures to maximise product profitability and shareholder value.
  • Plan new product launches with Relationship Managers and ensure that new products meet planned revenue and volume targets.
  • Ensure that the department delivers high quality and timely service to its clients and maintaining direct interface with clients through direct visits / phone / mail, etc.
  • Maintain and enhance customer relationships with existing and prospective customers to ensure business continuity and growth.
  • Lead and manage the articulation and definition of annual SME Banking Operating Plan to deliver short-term financial results and manage revenue & costs (P&L).
  • Identify and translate market opportunities into new SME product programs or enhancements to existing products, in order to generate profitable business.
  • Manage, coach and motivate SME team; review and assess staff performance.
 
Requirements:
  • Mauritian nationality is a prerequisite.
  • BSc in Finance or equivalent (Master degree preferred).
  • At least 7 years of experience in Financial Services with 3+ years of direct managerial experience.
  • Prior exposure to the banking sector desirable.
  • Ability to relate functional objectives to the broader business context.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles & practice, customer lending, credit principles, risk management and banking regulatory framework.
  • Understanding of socio-political and economic environment of international and local market segments.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to all areas under control.
