Job Description:
This position is responsible for the overall management of the yard. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the scheduling, ordering, repair, maintenance and disbursement of equipment and supplies. This person will also be responsible for the maintenance of the yard facilities.

  • Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved and small projects to the right skills in the team by planning and managing the works effectively.
  • Adhere to daily and weekly checks to ensure smooth operation of the site;
  • Develop a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedule and ensure that full preventative maintenance is carried out including planning in missed maintenance activities and lead the team to deliver effectively;
  • Audit and ensure compliance of the systems;
  • Manage the team to ensure machine availability and reactively managing dysfunctional machinery;
  • Optimise equipment according to standard procedure, enhancing performance and product quality;
  • Ensure routine calibration and maintenance requirements of a variety of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems are undertaken;
  • Ensure that designated buildings, plant and facilities are fit for purpose and to provide proactive support / solutions when required;
  • Attend various meetings and communicate clearly the instructions receive during these meetings;
  • Produce written reports and make presentations;
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact;
  • Manage contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements;
  • Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
  • Minimum Matric;
  • Technical qualification will be advantageous;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in people management;
  • Knowledge of the Health and Safety Statutory requirements;
  • Good knowledge of general construction practices;
  • Computer literacy is a prerequisite (Excel and Word).
